Portraiture @ Kolektib =)

One of the many portraiture attempts and opportunities given too me and yet I feel there is still a lot to improve on my part though I’m learning, albeit, on a noticeably slow note. I’m just glad that the portraiture session we had was surrounded with beautifully gifted individuals which probably made photography a very worthwhile endeavor. Having experienced the session made me realized that being a model or modeling for that matter is as difficult as being a crafty photographer. I hope I was able to give justice to such a fine and sport young woman. Cheers! A little bit of a trivia here is that, it was a huge coincidence that while shooting this lovely lady, Bread’s “IF” song was playing in the background.

Hi Steve! Great site. And those are really pretty amazing shots of Ms EC. I’m sure Sonny and Julius (and Allan, of course)would love to see these too. Regards!

Hi Doc! I’m glad that you were able to appreciate my shots. I think they’re good shots mainly because we had a good model then. ;p Was able to drop by over your multiply site and was fascinated with the shots displayed there. It seems like you’re really having a feel already with your Sony Dslr. Godspeed on your Belgium trip Doc! =D

Uy, Bellini’s to no? Also, where do you host your photos? Coz I think they appear vertically elongated in my monitor. Give me tips on getting good portraits!

  7. By istib on Jul 8, 2008

@ nan yep it’s at Bellini’s. Good Italian food as I’ve heard. I hosted at Photobucket coz I haven’t enrolled myself with a pro account at Flickr so I manually edited the height and width of the image and since I’m no pro hence I got most, if not all, of the pictures distorted. LOL. Silly me. My apologies. =D Tips?! Teh Great Nan is asking me for tips?! You’re better than me Nan kidding aside. =D

boo.ayaw mag-share ng knowledge, haha! i seriously need better understanding of portraits. it was our topic in class last sunday, and i realised i don’t understand i thing about lighting :(

  9. By istib on Jul 15, 2008

Is your class the one in Intramuros during Sunday’s? Lighting. HhhmmM. If I tell you, then I have to kill you. Haha!

Well, we talked about the basics of lighting like different forms and ways of lighting as a whole and not limited to potraits. That’s it. I’m never really good with theories. I’m more of a application type of student. I prefer shooting to learn then critique. Hehe.

One thing, and this is said by someone I wouldn’t mention hehe, “still of hand would never make up for emptiness of heart.” Which translates to “I just shoot with my heart”. Hahaha! You teach me now Nan. Hahaha!

Nice! That’s not cheap. Mga experts at pro din ang nagtuturo duon. Me wanna Nikon D300 so I could start with my apprenticeship with my chosen master! =D
